The Blue Bomber

A little something I did three semesters ago on my all time favorite character from my favorite game sequel Megaman 3. The most memorial thing from my childhood from this game was the soundtrack I must say. Surprisingly video games have good soundtracks too.

  1. I like that building in the far corner. don't think the cell shading worked on this piece but the lighting seems very accurate so that's a plus.
i still don't get why wily's face is just stuck on there lol...

  2. Haha! Yea I kinda wanted to throw Wily in there, show his presence, perhaps making him a bit ghostly will work out better.

  3. Something about the void in the center I don't like... How about placing Protoman closer to Megaman? I think it would establish a stronger idea of character interaction.

  4. Hmmmm........ I had actually reworked this composition time and time again. Moving Protoman would not only create space there but a whole mess of other composition issues. I had come to the conclusion that this was the best result between all three characters. Remember from Prof. Kokinos who had mentioned the whole triangle effect between characters in creating a picture. But I get what you mean, I don't think it's that big of a void.

  5. Okie dokie.

Hey, how about illustrating a scene with a lot of minor bots being smashed? And dedicating it to me, Guillermo!

  6. Maybe sometime in the future. Who would do all the smashing?

  7. i disagree with what you said about the triangle effect, while it is a very popular composition tool, its not always necessary in a picture. take a look at Al Parker's stuff, all of them are purposely placed in ways of non conventional composition methods. and yet it still works.

i agree with Jung Wei, how you should place protoman a bit closer. right now his ass and hip area really starts to thin out compared to his torso, and it really gives a feeling that it's weighing towards the outside of the image rather than leading in. i don't know if when your thinking moving protoman closer to megaman to just drag and shift it to the right, but make him bigger to the same size as megaman but still behind, that way you're not leaving anything empty on the left hand side still.

and i really think Wily is improperly lit. i think the making him transparent thing is a good idea
